Ugg Australia is the world's largest manufacturer of
sheepskin footwear, and a quick visit to their website makes it clear that their stock is also the most varied. Not only do they offer a wide variety of uggs, they also sell pillows, rugs, outerwear and accessories, most of which is made from
high-quality Merino sheepskin. In addition, they offer specialized care products like
conditioners and
stainproofing for their sheepskin items. It's easy to navigate through the site to find exactly what you're looking for, and especially welcome is the search box provided on every page. If you know what you're hunting, all you have to do is type in the name, click Enter, and you'll immediately get a page showing matching results for your search. It even works for a general term like "boots," presenting their large array of
Women's,
Men's, and
Kid's models.
Available Brands and Styles
While there are several other well-established producers of prime ugg boots and sheepskin footwear based out of Australia, like
Koolaburra and
Warmbat, you won't find any mention of their products here. Ugg Australia's website is a showcase for their own products, which lends the site a simplicity it might otherwise lack. The individual styles are far too numerous to mention here, but among the most popular are the
Classic Tall and
Ultra Short for both
Men and
Women, and the
Women's Fluff Momma. In the
Kid's line, the
Birch and
Deme boots are especially hot.
Men's footwear includes both fashion and utilitarian styles, with the latter predominating. The
Berrien boot is both attractive and durable, while the
Gaulin, a great looking half-boot, is most noteworthy for its style.
Ordering Process
Ordering from the Ugg Australia site is as easy as it gets online. Once you've found the right item, select your size and color from a list and click a button titled "Add to Cart" to -- you guessed it -- add it to your shopping cart. If you've shopped online before, this is all very familiar. Once you're done shopping, open your cart (easily accessed from a link at the top of every page) and click "Proceed to Checkout." If you've already set up an account, you go straight to the payment page; otherwise it's the same old necessary rigmarole of filling out your shipping and payment information.
Payment Options & Gift Cards
You can pay by credit card, check, or money order, but you have to send them the checks and money orders first, and this will delay your order by 7-10 days. Payment can only be made in U.S. dollars, and checks must bear a nine-digit routing number to be valid. Gift certificates are available, in email or paper format. They're valid for one year and aren't redeemable at retails stores or for cash.
Shipping
As far as shipping goes, you've got a lot of options. Ugg Australia will happily to ship its sheepskin products internationally, but you'll have to pay a shipping premium, and it has to be in U.S. funds. Only standard international delivery through the U.S. Postal Service is available, and the company charges $29.95 for products valued at $25 or less, scaling up to $119.95 for products worth $225-250 -- and it goes up in $20 increments from there for each $25 value. Normal shipping within the contiguous U.S. varies from $5.95-11.95, but it's free for anything over $125. Delivery to Hawaii, Alaska, and U.S. territories is a bit more expensive, and free is never an option in those cases. Of course, Priority and Express shipping are options for U.S. orders, but they're typically 2-3 times more expensive than standard shipping.
Return Policy
Ugg Australia is rather rigid in their return policy. They require you to use a specific type of return merchandise form and label for uggs purchased directly from them, and another for products purchased from an outside retailer. You have to print these from the site. You have 30 days to return the products, which must be clean and "free of wear and tear," and shipping costs are not refunded. Furthermore, you'll have to use some kind of traceable method for returning your stuff, since Ugg Australia won't accept responsibility for anything lost in transit.
Customer Service
The customer service aspects of the Ugg Australia website are intuitive and easy to use; they even offer a direct link on each page. On the Customer Service page, you have access to your account information, FAQs, helpful links, contact information, and hours of operation. You can even track an order. Perhaps the most useful aspect of this page is the Returns and Warranties section, which clearly explains their policies on both.
